Notes: Okay, capslocks comms aren't usually my thing (so often people fail to be funny with their capslocking), but
ukefied linked this post and I clicked out of curiosity and ended up practically in tears from the macros. Goddamn you, internet, I fall to the macros humor, okay?? (It's just. The final one in
this comment just kind of broke me and made me laugh way too hard.)
Also, I have been sick for the past three or four days now and that blows. I've been spending a lot of my time (since I can't alsal;ksj sleep) watching TV and looking at fanart. I... may have looked a few Tales of the Abyss sites. >_>

Food Fetish by Haverstock - After a long time away from the DGM fandom (because it has some mystical ability to put a damper on my good mood much of the time), I finally started reading the manga again. And remembered how much I liked the potential of the Ravi/Rinali ship idea, so, naturally, I had to wander over to FFNET. And I was just charmed by this cute little fic where Rinali and Ravi team up to try to get Kanda and Allen together. What really won me over where these little moments where the characters were just quietly adorable. I'm weak to a cute turn of phrase with adorable het couples! Like: The smile on Lenalee's face is so radiant that he finds himself blinded by the beauty of it and realizes, suddenly, that he’s in love with Komui's sister.
He wonders how long he has left to live. (Ravi/Rinali, some Kanda/Allen.)
- Final Fantasy XII -
Earth Pressed Flat by Icor - Every so often, there are certain fics that make it less painful to be a fan of a particular pairing and this is one of those that fills the craving I have for Balthier/Fran. It's a beautiful, beautiful story that takes place over the course of the game and accomplishes so much through a series of entries in Balthier's journal, everything is brilliantly done. The turns of phrase and tone in Balthier's voice are gorgeous and fit the game so well, the characterization is subtle and brilliant, the use of details on the background world (the magics, the settings, the politics) are brilliant, and the political landscape is just as beautifully done. The way the author combines all of this, along with the breathtaking way she writes the Balthier/Fran relationship, is amazing. It's such a simple concept--Balthier writes a series of journal entries as they progress through the game's plot. Should be kind of tame, right? But I kept forgetting that that was the format because I could hear Balthier's voice so clearly in my head, the descriptions of the scenes brought the images perfectly into my mind's eye. Even Balthier's frustration or his observations of the other members of their party are spot-on, reading about his recounting something Vaan said or the way Ashe reacted to something is brilliant, it feels just as lushly and richly done as the game itself. Brilliant. ♥ (Balthier/Fran.)
- Naruto -
Daddy Dearest by Epiff Annie - I was just randomly surfing around FFNET while bored one night and I think I read some of the author's DGM fic (or set it aside to read at some point) and just happened to stumble over a Shikamaru/Ino story that had an interesting beginning. I rarely read fics unless they have a strong opening anymore and this one certainly caught my attention and kept it with the cute, fun, adorable ShikaIno dynamic that I really like. Plus, it's really funny to watch these two grow up together, to see Shikamaru's reactions to her and other people through his life, and then the very cute and funny relationship with Inochi, who was very fun to read about here. Just a nice fic that I'm glad to have come across, I don't get to read nearly enough ShikaIno, so I wanted something light and fun. :D (Shikamaru/Ino.)
- Okami/xxxHOLiC -
untitled by Pengie - If you had asked me ahead of time, I don't think xxxHOLiC would have been high on my list of series to cross over with Okami, but this was Pengie, so I was happy to read anyway. Especially after her super-hilarious commentary on the Okami replay she's been doing. ♥ (Seriously, could I just trade my praise and demon fangs in for a stray bead instead of having to race Kai, please???) The two worlds blend together surprisingly well, the interaction between Amaterasu and Watanuki is delightful to read, and oh my god is her Amaterasu perfect. So much said without Amaterasu ever uttering a single thing! I can just picture the expressions on her face perfectly! SO MUCH AWESOMENESS. (Including reading the commentary on the game itself.) Everything about this fic is perfect, I just want to doodle little hearts around it and Waka's silly, silly hat. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club -
Paces by MiiKirin - So, I was reading DGM fic and this somehow... winds up with me reading Host Club fic? I'm not sure I even remember the path I took to get to this fic, but I'm delighted to have read it. The language is lovely and subtle, the kind that a pairing like Kyouya/Haruhi needs, just that hint of friction and fight there, even after they've gotten together, but not in a too terrible way. ....I'm explaining this badly, I think. But it's a lovely fic with lovely writing and there's het smut! Good het smut! For Kyouya and Haruhi! I also liked the backwards storytelling style for this fic, the author pulls it off well. ♥ (Kyouya/Haruhi, some light NC-17 content.)
- Tales of the Abyss -
Dedicated by Mouko - Oh, my god, this was fantastic. Jade and Nephry when they were younger and the images presented in the fic were just adorable and perfect and the take on their relationship was excellent. It was just about exactly how I would picture Jade as a child, the balance between how uncomfortable he makes adults and how he thinks/acts and how he treats his sister. Nephry's just an adorable little girl in the fic and I swear I grinned the entire time she was trying to--and failing spectularly at--pelt Jade with a snowball. The entire time. It's one of those perfect little fics about the siblings' childhood, one that beautifully shows how two such different people could get along the way they do, that I now feel better about the ToA fandom. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Tales of the Abyss -
Closed Score by Mouko - I liked this fic. It struck a good balance between Dist being the genius that he is and the ridiculous lunatic that he also is, the way the little robot just adored him while he ranted and raved, the way his words revealed more than he intended to or probably even realized, the way the whole thing put a clear image in my head of Dist tinkering away with his fontech machines and being the crazy idiot he is. I also like that it has this nice blend of darkness to it, while still mixed with moments of humor, which is so much of what I liked about the game itself. (This read as gen to me for the most part, but if you want to see implications of Jade/Dist, you can.)

Gundam Wing - PINKSROUTA [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I went back and forth on this site a little, slowly winding my way through the galleries, kind of liking the artist's b&w style. I'm not sure when I was won over, sometime during the oekaki pages, I imagine, because her Duo is just... he grew on me. She draws him in a way that really resonates with me, cheerful on the surface, maybe something else lingering underneath. And then you add in the Heero/Duo nature of a lot of her art and I just... I like this art. I like the messy feel of it and the way it makes Duo's hair look. I like the way she draws all of the pilots and tucks images away in the galleries, I like that the first page of art I saw was a series of the five pilots very nicely drawn. I like that her Heero and Duo can be soldiers together sometimes or they can be just happy kissing sometimes. (Heero/Duo.)

Tales of the Abyss - ELEPHAN [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I loved this site from nearly the very first moment I set eyes on it. The artist's style is gorgeous, her Asch's flaming red hair was this really deep, beautiful color and the way she could draw the other characters in this bright, sun-dappled sort of way was amazing. I loved the art of all the characters and the variety instantly. So much warmth and richness to the images. But then I got to her Asch/Natalia art and I just simply fell further in love. Her art for them is beautiful, even more than just being well-done (which they very, very much are ♥), they evoke a lot of emotion in each piece, whether happier times or powerful moments or sadness at all the tragedy in their lives. Her Natalia is wonderful, her etc. art is fantastic--there's one of the most beautiful Peony images I've seen. Just. *happy sigh* This is what j-fanart is about. ♥♥♥ (There's some Asch/Natalia, but there's a lot of gen, too.)

Tales of the Abyss - RedCastle [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It didn't take me long at all to fall in love with this artist's work, the bright colors and softened look to the images, the solid base art and adorable poses for just about everyone, a really good variety of characters used, all elements that win me over. And I really love that, no matter what pairings you like, there was probably a couple of images tucked away in the various galleries that you would like, along with genuinely good, solid art. I loved that the art was so cute, but that none of it felt half-finished, like a lot of art can sometimes start to feel when you have a site with this much on it. Even if it's simply putting a sunset in the background or a forest area or even just a simple sky, there was almost always something to make the image feel complete. Very nice. (Some het/yaoi pairings, but you could basically see it as a gen site.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/apuri-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - Apuri [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I liked this site, it's some of the better Guy/Luke fanart I've yet to find, with very bright colors and nicely detailed poses. There's not a ton of art, but there's enough to make it a solid hit for those looking for a Guy/Luke fix or even just a starting place. Plus, man, those sprites on the main page are absolutely adorable, you can really feel how much the site owner likes Guy's character. A nice, fun site. (Guy/Luke.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/crono-zero-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - Crono-Zero [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, man, I'm just weak to this kind of art, the warm colors that are like a sunlightened version of sepia tones, all the pretty uses of soft yellows and reds and tans that work well with a pairing like Guy/Luke and, finally, the artist followed through with kidlet art. I am weak to the art of the characters as cute little kids. There's the occasional image of other people (there's a really nice lineart of Tear, too!) but mostly you're going to want to go here for the adorable Guy/Luke, I think. Very nice. (Some Guy/Luke, some gen.)

Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - You know what this artist does? She draws Asch and Luke in cat ears. She has a very nice use of color and adorable line art and everything looks really well-put together and then she puts them in cat ears and I have to have all integrity fly out the window because they're so adorable. Especially when they're in little chibi form. The little chibi Luke leaning against the little chibi snowman version of Asch? SO CUTE I CAN HARDLY STAND IT. ♥ I just... there's not much to say about this site other than: *FLAIL* So much cuteness! So much pretty color! I love it! XD Oh, and also. The comics are excellent, I love the clean, yet sharp lines of them, so very pretty. (....nothing I'm going to warn for, it strikes me as a gen site? Though, if you like Asch/Luke, you'll like this site.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/suespo-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - Suespo [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It took me awhile to cave on this site, because it's not that it wasn't pretty, it's just that I wasn't sure it was my thing... until I got to the image of Asch, bloody and beaten against the stone wall, with the spectre of little Natalia kneeling beside him that I start to really crumble. Then, I kept going through the gallery, the artist really started to get amazingly good with her art, and then... there was a cute chibi Luke/Tear image. Then Tear in a really cute cat-style costume. Asch with little doll!Natalia! SO CUTE. And that's what I really liked about this site, that the overall effect wore me down until I was kind of quietly heartmarking all over the place. (There's a little bit of a lot of things, some Asch/Natalia, maybe a little Luke/Asch, a little other implications, a lot of gen.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/matakokode-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - MATAKOKODE [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is another site that took me a bit to get into, the artist's style took me a few pages to win me over, but eventually the bulk of the site finally won me over. Especially since I really love any image that has Dist in it and the artist does some very nice things with dark, burnished-metal-esque colors. There are a couple of especially lovely Tear illustrations, though, the artist mainly focuses on Jade's character, you can tell that he's her favorite. A nice little site to have come across this morning. <3 (A little bit of everything, het, yaoi, and gen. Lots of Jade focus, but kinda worth it for other characters, too.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/pdes-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Okay. I was trying to remain strong with this site, there were only a handful of images in the main gallery, despite the utter cuteness of Jade and Dist (I think?) as kids in this really pretty light, airy watercolors style. But then I was going through the oekaki section and the artist had drawn pretty much everyone and her Asch was really cute and her Luke and Tear images were cute and then... as;dlijflaks dammit! Asch/Natalia! My weakness! Really cute, pretty Asch/Natalia art, too! And then one of Ion and Anise sitting next to each other with their hands on top of the other's! So cute! I have a weakness for a bunch of oekaki images dropped onto a page and the sum total of the site wins me over. So. Yes. Pretty art in the main gallery, fun oekaki, nice use of colors, and there's just enough of my preferred pairings to totally make me cave. XD (Some Asch/Natalia, some Asch/Luke, some other het, some other yaoi, a lot of gen, too.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/sleeping-banner.png)
-
Tales of the Abyss - sleeping [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - If there are two (more) things I'm weak to in this fandom, it's Jade/Dist fanart and adorable, adorable little kidlets. I really like the artist's colors, they're so bright and her Dist has all these pretty pastels, especially when he's a kid with all these stuffed animals crowded around him. ♥ And, oh, man, the image with little Jade, Dist, Peony, and Nephry in school--!! a sd;flkjas;ldkjals SO ADORABLE. There's not a ton of art here, just a handful of images, but they're so damn cute that I had to recommend the site. Also, they totally hit my kinks for those characters. ♥ (Some Jade/Dist, some gen.)

Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - So, I originally came here for the potential Sync/Arietta fanart, but it took pretty much only two images in the gallery to totally break me. Ion/Anise adorableness, where they're in such cute clothes and smiling happily (well, Anise is, Ion's going :O as he tries to catch her) and these lovely pastel colors. And then there's a group image that had a small corner dedicated to Asch going on and on and on about Natalia to the other God-Generals and I totally laughed out loud at the image. Then there's a fantastically done group poster-style image with more pretty pastel colors. And I just... I feel like I could go on and on about each image. Plus, there's a ton of cute oekaki, which was yet more fun with this site. :D (Some potential pairings, but nothing I'm going to quite warn for.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/asa-gohan-banner.gif)
-
Tales of the Abyss - Asa/Gohan [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There are probably less than twenty total images on this site, but I really like the ones that are here. Her Ion is so adorable and she uses this light, soft pastel colors and makes him look really nice. Plus! Adorable Ion/Anise illustrations! Even a really pretty Natalia one and a couple of cute little Asch/Natalia-friendly oekaki images buried in the log pages. And, if you poke around enough, you can find the sprites! I love sprites, I love them so much. The little Asch/Natalia hand-holding sprites make me happy in my very soul. ♥ (A smidge of Ion/Anise and Asch/Natalia, but a lot of gen, too.)
![](http://fleetingfancies.nokoru.net/fanart-banners/rt-banner.jpg)
-
Tales of the Abyss - Rt [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was a little hesitant about this site at first, but the further I got into the site, the more I liked it a lot. The variety of characters drawn helps a lot, but I think... what really caught me was the Sync/Arietta art, which was so darling and cute and had this almost color pencil-like style that worked for this pairing. The more art I see of them, the more art that's really cute like this site, the more I really start to like the idea of the pairing. Even the comics are lovely and show off the pretty lineart that the artist has going for her, plus a lot of details that makes them look really nice, the Sync/Arietta comic is especially just lovely. (Sync/Arietta, some Ion/Anise.)
