Notes: .....god, it just figures that JE is what gets me reading fic again. orz

Also, seeing as I'm reading and recommending Pin fic, I totally think a certain someone should write me Aiba/Jun. It's the least she owes me and I'll take every chance I get to REMIND HER VERY VERY PUBLICLY. ♥

(Oh, and what the hell am I supposed to label Pin fic? It's not like I can label it KAT-TUN/NEWS without it looking weird, can I? So I settled for "JE" instead.)

- Arashi - Less Than Five and Word Association by wintersjuly - These are two short ficlets posted together, one a gen piece while Nino's off working on an individual project that's a very sweet moment about what a group of five they are and it's not the same without that final one, even if it's only temporary. It's a nice, short piece that packs the punch it intends. The second is a cute little Aiba/Jun piece that fills my very soul with sparklies and happines and afdljafdsljaflkjsda god, why are they so cute? Adorable. (The first piece is gen, the second is Aiba/Jun.)

- Arashi - Technical Difficulties by wintersjuly - Okay, I was originally going to scoot right on by this fic because genderswitch really isn't my thing so much. But Aiba/Jun fic is rare and I liked the author's other work so much. And. And. Okay. So, girl!Aiba has the potential to be so very bad, but when this author does it... asdfljasdflalkjf oh my god, if Aiba suddenly turned into a girl, this is how it would go. Aiba's just so... Aiba and the ending lines were killing me because it was just that hilarious and the hetsex is so surprisingly hot and afsdl;kjadfslkjasdflkj oh my god Jun's reaction to the brilliance that is girl!Aiba just has me on the floor rolling around in a complete ability to be coherent. (Aiba/Jun, genderswitch--READ IT ANYWAY--around an NC-17-rating.)

- Bleach/Sailor Moon - On the Job Training by Sophia P - This was such a fun, clever little crossover that was a delight to read! One of the things that really makes (or breaks) a crossover is that point of intersection between the two series, that reason to bring the two together and a conversation between Artemis and Yoruichi set the tone for something light and just fun. I especially loved Yoruichi's sly characterization here and the ending was great. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

- Friday Night Lights/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Title IX by Sophia P - Technically, this crossover is only meshing the two worlds, the Buffy characters don't actually appear. (Thus, I'm not going to put it in a Buffy section, but I wanted to list it to give an idea of what the fic was about. Anyway.) That aside. OMG OMG OMG. BEST CROSSOVER ALL WEEK. I wasn't sure what to make of the idea of an FNL/Buffy crossover but since I like the author so much, I decided to read anyway. And then. Beautiful set-up. Lovely dialogue, great pacing, great imagery. And then the (ha ha) kicker, the punch at the end of the ficlet and it was awesome. I could totally hear the entire conversation in the characters' voices and I ♥ this fic so hard. (Nothing I'm going to warn for.)

- Friday Night Lights/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Blood ties by Sophia P - Where the first FNL/Buffy crossover by this author was light-hearted and fun, this one is much darker in tone and brilliantly creepy. I really love the way this is done, the way it's from the FNL series' perspective, so the Buffy weirdness is very strange and unfamiliar, the way it has such a deep affect on Tim's character. But even aside from that, this story is worth reading for Tim's POV and character insight, which is so painfully spot-on that I just... I mean, I didn't think I'd ever want to read FNL fic, what was there to fill in, really? But this story manages to find that something to fill in and then knocks it out of the park. Brilliant writing, brilliant pacing, brilliant idea, brilliant all the way around. (No warnings/pairings.)

- JE - Accidentally on Purpose by wintersjuly - So, I've started reading Pin fic, right? Which is largely because this one was posted together with two Arashi ficlets and it was easy to just keep reading, especially with how much I liked the author's style. It's very clean and sharp and gets the people across so clearly, even with my lack of familiarity with them. (So far. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.) And, okay. The bit about MatsuJun had me practically stuffing a fist in my mouth to keep from howling with laughter, but mostly it's the way Pin is... it's half two utter idiots and half cuteness that will destroy your soul. And, god, asdfljadfls, Jin's lines, that's just... *wipes tear* that's beautiful. (Jin/Yamapi.)

- JE - Scenic Route by whyjennifer - OMG. Idiocy and porn? Goddammit, I am weak to the idiocy. (Thankfully, I already have idiocy in a different boyband to keep me from being eaten alive entirely.) I just. The writing is so fabulous, it's clean and sharp, the dialogue is crisp and genuinely funny and clever and then then carporn is completely and utterly hot. All of this is balanced together to make a fantastic fic, all the things a Pin fic should be. Also, any time Yamapi jumps Jin in a car and Jin says, "Wait, wait, wait, are you nuts? We're on the side of a road where anyone or, like, I don't know, Bigfoot can just come by and see!" there is no way the fic can fail to be full of awesome. (Jin/Yamapi, NC-17.)

- JE - untitled? by darkeyedwolf - adfljaslfdjaldsjf, THIS IS WHY I WANT HER TO WRITE MORE. Because even if I didn't already love these two, I would have rolled around on the floor in hysterical laughing fits until I caved after reading this. I mean, you don't even have to know who these guys are to appreciate how insanely awesome this fic is. I mean. They're complete idiots and the way the friendship underneath their idiocy is so solid and it's just so beautiful. And, god, every time I read the opening bit with the postcards, I laugh so hard I choke. EVERY TIME. Or the bit with the phones. God, the phones. Every line of this fic is complete and utter awesome, I can't even talk about it without incoherency and capslock abuse. Just. This is what Pin fic should be. Forever and ever. ♥ (Jin/Yamapi.)

- One Piece - Necessities in Life by Pero - I haven't actually watched the fillers these are based on (I had to Wiki them, but it sounds sort of awesome of OP to got that route for filler omg ♥), but I think they stood well enough on their own. I really do ♥ Pero's OP fic, she captures that sense of batshit crazy about the world, the exaggerated qualities that still have an internal consistency. And, god, her Nami is just so utterly fabulous and her Zoro and Sanji interaction is fabulous and her Luffy is just... heeee, dragging in some nameless monk just 'cause he's a new friend and that's so Luffy and all the little details that go into this and just... yeah, I had a ton of fun with this one. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- X/Tokyo Babylon/Death Note - Things to do in Tokyo when you're bored by Sophia P - Oh my god. I did not know how badly this crossover needed to exist until I read it. Just. Whoa. From start to finish, this was pure Seishirou. Dangerous, barely interested, elegant, and deadly. The way these two series came together, the way Seishirou truly felt lethal here, the way he was so in touch with the spiritual nature of both series without being too caught up in it, the way everything was paced in this fic it was just... awesome. Start to finish, this one packed a hell of a punch, I was breathless nearly the entire time I was reading. Just. Omg. Brilliant. (No warnings/pairings, not really.)

- X/Tokyo Babylon/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Agony Aunt by Sophia P - [Note: This is a sequel to the fic Not Your Average Kelly Girl.] Oh. Oh. Anya in a meeting with Subaru and adfslkjadsflkjasdlfj "Of course, I generally only offer my special services to wronged women, but hell, you're feminine enough that it sort of counts, right?" Anya's take on the CLAMPverse happenings is both hilarious and a great way to highlight just how ridiculously angsty some of it is and her characterization as a vengeance demon is so beautiful that I can only flail my arms geekishly in appreciation. There are just too many lines and little moments that I'd love to quote in this one, I'd wind up quoting back the whole thing. This should absolutely, absolutely not be missed. (Some Seishirou/Subaru, but it's not the point at all.)

- xxxHOLiC/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Not Your Average Kelly Girl by Sophia P - At some point I seem to have gone from merely being willing to read crossovers to positively enjoying them. Damn HOLiC, I'm sure it's their fault. This crossover was all kinds of brilliant, though. The utter culture clash of sticking a Buffy character into the HOLiC universe is fantastic, Anya sticks out like a sore thumb, yet the reason for her being there, the way she reacts to the circumstances around her by being so herself, the way the two universes blend so beautifully together is still yet more brilliance. I just. Anya. And Watanuki. It's fabulous from start to finish, every last word of this one. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)

- xxxHOLiC - House of a Hundred Regrets by devikun - I've been poking at the recent yaoi_challenge fics, but there've been so many of them posted that I wasn't really sure where to begin. Then peroxidepest17 pointed this one out and since I had a handful of other HOLiC fics to rec, I figured I'd give it a shot. I quickly became engrossed in this story, it's got a light, easy style to read, filling in all these little details of the setting without getting too bogged down with them, which is one of the best things about the story--the attention to detail as Watanuki and Doumeki are sent on another errand. Plus, there's actual plot, it's not just about getting the characters together, it's about telling a story that... well. I do agree that the transition from Watanuki's part of the story to Doumeki's part of the story was rather abrupt, that the ending felt a little pushed to me (but I also freely admit my bias in this and I do think it was still one of the best Doumeki/Watanuki get-togethers I've read, so I'm not trying to give it a backhanded compliment, it really was very well written!), but overall it's an incredibly strong story, Watanuki's part of this story was really moving, something that felt so true to the series. I loved this story a whole lot. (Watanuki/Doumeki.)

- xxxHOLiC - Barrage by Pero - I really liked this take on Doumeki, how he's not as unaffected by the words Watanuki hurls at him as one might think. It's sometimes the little things that make me really brighten over a fic, the way the author drew the parallel between Doumeki's grandfather's words and Yuuko's words, the idea they both expressed is a really nice fit with the HOLiC series and its themes/meanings. I even like that this fic wasn't so much about a pairing as it was about Doumeki as a character, which was very nicely done. I enjoyed this greatly. (Implications of Doumeki/Watanuki.)

- Yami no Matsuei/Sandman - Housing shortage by Sophia P - I don't think you actually need to be that familiar with the Sandman verse to read this, it stands well enough as a Yamimatsu fic by itself--but I could be saying that because I have a passing familiarity with Sandman, so. But I still think it's an utterly delightful crossover between two versions of Death and Death Gods, completely charming in the characterization all around, and an excellent ending line that's just fabulous. So much fun. (No warnings/pairings.)
