Notes: Once again this is why the TezuFuji fandom is awesome and why I love those girls over at lamplighter. (Also, they have a gorgeous site up, too. Just. Eeeeee. ♥)

And omg some of the people that have signed up for their_white_day makes me positively aglow with delight. *♥ for the fandom again*

Holy crap! I'm not the only one who likes this pairing? HALLELUJAH. ♥
Series:
Prince of Tennis - 5 Fanfics
Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - 1 Fanart
Harukanaru Toki no Nakade/Saiunkoku Monogatari - 1 Fanart
    Saiunkoku Monogatari - 6 Fanart

- Prince of Tennis - Illusions by Charlotte - You know, from a lot of other authors, I doubt I would have read this or probably even been as open-minded as I was. But somehow Charlotte makes these things work, somehow she combines Fuji's disinterest/not-quite-fear of ghosts with his quirky personality and strange, almost surreal ways to make something that's very understated but with a lovely tone. Again, it's full of these lovely little details that practically paint an image that, were I talented with a pen or pencil, I would itch to draw because they form so neatly in my head. Also, also! The ending! That's exactly what I like from my TezuFuji, where words aren't said and they're probably not even touching each other, but it's satisfying and just perfect the way it is. I love them like this. (Tezuka/Fuji.)

- Prince of Tennis - Paperwork by triniophoenicis - On the other hand, sometimes, touching is nice, too. I'm intrigued by the office-AU setting the author has put the characters into, I wouldn't have thought it would interest me (I tend not to be one much for AUs that completely transplant the characters like this), but... I dunno. Something about the way the fic was practically a teaser, the way it was just a snippet from a potentially larger storyline (yet it was still just the length it should be) that made me like it. Or maybe it was the kissing/necking. Because, really, that was very, very nice. Very nice kissing. :9 (Tezuka/Fuji.)

- Prince of Tennis - Unspoken by mari_yagami - There are two things that caught me with this fic. One is the pacing/setting of it, the way it's small snippets set over several years and I'm a sucker for a fic that can pull that feeling off. It often feels much more satisfying than a fic that's a single moment in time, because--especially with a pairing like TezuFuji--some couples progress so quietly that you almost don't realize it until you're looking back. This fic captures that well, I think. The other thing that I really liked about the fic was that it wasn't entirely dependant on snuggling or smooching (not that these are bad things, mind!)(as well as the fic does contain some kissing, but it's not really the point) to portray the dynamic, instead going for something a bit more understated. I liked that. :D (Tezuka/Fuji.)

- Prince of Tennis - ten reasons why they'll never say 'i love you.' by Charlotte - I've had this conversation before, whether or not Tezuka or Fuji would ever say the words "I love you." to each other. I fluctuate a little, but usually I land on the side of, "I can see it in certain circumstances, but I'll bet Fuji'll be able to count on one hand the number of times Tezuka will say it in his life." So to see a fic that deals with it and does so in such a beautiful, richly detailed way just utterly delights me. It's such a smart fic, it shows how well they know/accept each other (whatever it is between those two concepts that Tezuka and Fuji have, not quite one, not quite the other, either), as well as fabulous, fabulous characterization. I feel like the author knows the characters and, after awhile, that is the most amazing thing in Tenipuri fandom to me. ....not that I'm bitter or full of rage, no. :D (Tezuka/Fuji.)

- Prince of Tennis - Vicissitudes + Cliche - It's sort of tough to tell, but this is two seperate fics posted together. The first one is a series of snippets/short fics put together in a vague sort of theme and it's just... I really liked that there was this sense to it, like I could nearly feel what Fuji felt, like I've been in that situation, where the details seem to nearly burn themselves into your mind. The rest of the snippets/short fics were just... interesting little slices of life with Tezuka and Fuji, little scenes that say more through actions and the way they're comfortable (in their own way) around each other than words could do. I greatly enjoyed the first fic. ♥ The second fic is more cracked out, a parody of cliches more than serious fic, but sometimes that's nice, too. Especially when there are great little details (I laughed at Inui's reason for not having a notebook along) that make the fic cuter and funnier. (Tezuka/Fuji.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Yet another site that doesn't have a lot of art, but what's here is just so damn pretty that I can't help it. And I swear I don't go looking for Kurou/Nozomi all the time, I actually came here from a Saiunkoku site looking for that series and just happened to notice that there was Haruka3 art and thought I'd give it a look. Then I stumbled on some beautiful, lush illustrations and some really pretty, almost delicately lined sketches and... yeah, I was gone. Because, man, this artist draws Kurou's hair all pretty like it should be. <3 (Kurou/Nozomi.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatar - K.ip [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I am weak to several things when it comes to j-fanart, but one of the things I'm weakest for overall is sprites. And this site has SAIUNKOKU SPRITES YAAAAY. They are totally adorably cute and... and... is that baby!Shuurei? Because, if so, I just had a cuteness attack. The rest of the site is cute, there are some fun doodles and some really cute regular art (especially of Kouyuu ♥) that gets better and better as the artist goes along. She does that soft, pretty, almost pastel coloring that I like so much, which makes some of the art just beautiful. There's just enough to make this a really satisfying site overall, too. So much love. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site can be very sketch-like with this artist's style, but... I find that I actually really kinda like that here. The artist uses it well when it comes to the Saiunkoku characters' hair, so it looks messy but still so very pretty--there's this one beautiful one of Ryuuren that I love so very much--and their clothes drape quite nicely. Add to that that the artist drew several comics with Reishin, seems to have a fondness for Kouyuu, I think there are some Kouyuu/Shuurei illustrations on the site, that the artist doesn't focus too much on one single character/pairing instead drawing just about everyone at some point, and that there's a solid amount of art here, it made the site a treasure to go through. Lovely work, despite this lackluster rec. ♥ (No single pairing theme/no warnings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari/Haruknaru Toki no Nakade - Egotistic Syndrome [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This artist's Harutoki fanart starts out kind of shakey, but picks up a lot by the time you get to her current art. She does very CG-style stuff, but that makes her colors look really nice and since her Saiunkoku stuff seems to be newer (while this does mean there's less of it, but still a decent amount!) it shows in the progress she's made. Not everything knocks my socks off, but the site is worth it for the one gorgeous Ryuuren illustration alone, it came together fabulously for her. Also, there's a preeeeeeetty one of Hisui in the kiriban gallery that is also worth going to the site for. So. Overall, a good, solid site that gave me a fix for two series I love. <3 (No real warnings/pairing themes.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - rich coloring [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site slowly, slowly won me over. The art was cute at first, but I tend to be a little bit wary of b&w-only site, especially if they're more sketches than anything. But some artists can make that style work for them and something about this one... something about it is just so darn CUTE that I couldn't resist. ....okay, part of it is that I was won over by the image of Reishin and kidlet!Kouyuu who was so cute I could just scoop him up and snuggle him for an hour straight. Then it was pretty Shuurei and adorable Ryuuki and lots of cute sketches of just about all the main cast and then there was the handful of color art where there was a beautiful Ryuuren illustration and just... yeah, cute, fun site. I enjoyed it. :D (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Again. Not a lot of art here. And a lot of what is here is b&w (or colorized) lineart. But the lines are so clean and professional looking (at least on certain images) that I just instantly fell in love. The artist's images are either SO CUTE or SO PRETTY and she has this collection of chibi art that just kills with the cute--Ryuuki wagging a puppy tail at Shuurei, little tiny Shuurei hugging Seiran, little tiny Eigetsu reading a scroll, little chibi Ryuuren wandering around with his head in the clouds, it's such a quitely fabulous little site. Or maybe it's just me that loves it so far, but... I dunno, maybe I've been browsing too many Saiunkoku sites and I'm starting to get really easy. Either way! :D (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Like a lot of the sites I'm recommending today, this one took me a bit to warm up to, the artist's style is a bit stylized for my taste (yet I can be won over with this, obviously XD), but... yeah, okay, I caved when I got to the one of Reishin holding little kidlet!Kouyuu protectively while still wearing the most bored/uninterested look on his face while Kouyuu looks up at him with a weird look and it was perfect, because that's them in a nutshell right there. I would comb entire sites just for one illustration like that... which I imagine is quite obvious by now. The rest of the site is cute as well, though, the artist's style grew on me a lot, and she draws some hilarious stuff. Very fun. XD (Some yaoi pairings, but no real themes/favorites.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I... am develping a strange fascination with the Kouyuu/Shuurei pairing. I'm not sure why, since I don't think they feel that way about each other and yet... given how I've seen nearly as much Kouyuu/Shuurei fanart as I have Shuuei/Kouyuu fanart, I'm starting to wonder just what it is that all the j-fen see in it. And it's... I don't know! I think it's just that I'm willing to pair Kouyuu with just about anyone because I find him so fascinating. And this site was just cute enough that it piqued my interest again, the artist occasionally doing some rather cute stuff. There's one of Kouyuu eating an orange (tangerine, maybe?) with this supririnsly adorable look on his face and it was right about then that I knew I was going to have to cave on this site. I just... I'm weak, okay? (A little Kouyuu/Shuurei, a lot of gen.)
