A week ago I gathered some courage and Wikipedia and did my best to come with a nice ref sheet with characters background/historical references for Verflucht.
At the same time I fixed the character's page, compiled futher infos and bio bits about the characters (mostly because the most of them changed drastically from my original idea ( Read more... )

I beg to differ, I think background can be very relevant to the story if utilised properly.

For me the background only needs to tell where the characters are or what the weather is there :/

As usual, I assume that that's the difference in perceiving things from the reader and the "doer"'s point of view-- I'm that kind of doer who likes to focus on characters and dialogues more than backgrounds and actual skills-- I'M A FAILURE, BUT I CALL IT "MY STYLE" ;____;

That's one way of doing things, but you can also put some irrelevant stuff in the foreground and let the subtle details in the background further the story.

Calling it "your style" is always a good way to dodge the issue of lacking skills, isn't it? XD

--I'm thinking of ways to cut the story shorter and you tell me about wasting my time adding stuff in the background for plot purposes? NO WAI XD
Anyway, I can still do that. I like to deal with "irrelevant details that become relevant" in other ways, like the look of characters in certain points of the story or the subtle use of "..." in dialogues XD

ALWAYS.
It's a MUST for every useless artist XD Who I am to not enjoy its benefits XDDDD

Well, good for you. But it would be an interesting exercise to try to tell a story using backgrounds only! XD
