Hey, UP peeps!!! Do you have this?
Centennial note~
Hahaha.. I'm keeping this in my safe because I might accidentally spend it. LOL
I'm not so sure.. but a friend of mine said that they're "selling" these centennial notes for PHP 1 000 per 4 pieces..
So that's PHP 250!!
Hahaha.. But I actually just got this as change when I bought something from the canteen.
It's a little crumpled.. but so what? LOL
Also, the Centennial ID. I want one. Just for the heck of it. LOL
But of course, the famous (or infamous?)
Oblation Run.
To commemorate 100 years of excellence, and also their stand against the current political issues, one hundred men of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity did the run earlier this year, rather than the usual December. (It's a yearly event, btw.)
Although my Psychology professor said, "There weren't 100 naked men running, there were only 53 and a half. I counted."
Whatever that means. LOL
Aaannd... I just wanna rant a little about school.. not my academic life in general.. but about my school itself.
UPD. With 493 hectares of land, I wonder if I'll be able to actually venture every inch of the campus by the time I graduate.
Whenever someone asks me about a schoolmate of mine, and I reply something like, "I dunno, I haven't seen her this term."
And that person reacts shocked, "What!? But aren't you from the same school? and you haven't seen each other?"
Sometimes, I just wanna smack the
map of the school campus right on his face and show him why we don't necessarily see each other.
Times are changing. And as most of you know, the female population in Engineering Colleges only increased during the last few years.. and even up until today, the Engineering Field is still dominated by men. We are about a third of the population now. Hoorrah!
But as our College Dean said, "When I was a student, there was only one comfort room in our building, located on the left wing, 1st floor." Tough life. LOL
But as I said, times are changing.. and other things change with it.
And amazingly, for a school which offers "
the most number of graduate and undergraduate courses among all the universities in the Philippines," with a student population of about 25 000, it's facilities are amusingly antique.
Like for instance, our department, the restroom has this sign hanged on its door:
.. when it obviously used to be a men's room with the urinal and everything.
The male and female restrooms at the second floor are separate.. although there still is a urinal in the ladies' room. LOL
Aaand.. in the main building..
One of the rest rooms has a sign like this:
t-that.. is a skirt drawn over. Even if it's not that apparent. I am continually amused by this fact.. for some reason. HAHA.
Allow me to quote our previous Department Chair, "Our machines are old.. old but still very useful. Actually, they were already old when my professors were still undergrads." And that was how many years ago, I reckon.. when he claims that he has been teaching a mechanisms course for centuries..? LOL.
Ahhhhh... I love my school and all the hell it brings into my life.
Alot of ppl think of us as arrogant b*stards who think we're the best.. no less.
Maybe we are... Maybe not..
But life in UP?? No matter how much anyone tells you about it.. Unless you've experienced it first hand..
You think you know.. but you have no idea.
