We went to Big Talbot Island last Sunday, even though the clouds were threatening a downpour. We went up A1A, crossed the river on the Ferry, and headed towards the Bluffs on Big Talbot. The Ferry ride was a big hit with the kids. None of them had ever been on one before. Aubrey freaked out when what once seemed like a parking lot started to move away from the shore. A bellowing air horn dodn't help things either.
When we arrived, the wind was blowing hard, and it started to rain. I shot a couple of pics with my Yashica film camera, and took it back to the car before it got too wet.
We decided to take a ride until the rain subsided. We looked for the Houston Family Cemetery, near the bird sanctuary, but once again the graveyard eluded me. Another time I suppose.
We headed back towards the picnic area, and took a walk down the trail. As soon as we did, the rain started again.
We pressed on, this time I was armed with a pocket digital camera.
"I don't know about this..."
Aubrey in a rather sublimeTurneresque setting.
"Ok, the rain is fun"
After getting drenched, we took another ride to Fernandina beach.
Aubrey having fun on the eroding dunes.
Mina faired well, despite the red tide warnings. I think the rain helped us out.
I'll see how the film turned out before I post pics of boneyard beach. We had no idea at the time, but we were playing in a beach where prehistoric fossils had been recently dug up.
