Thomas De Marco: Should America be The World's Police?

Mar 31, 2008 14:11

I am curious to know anyones input on this topic. It is rather controversial, but being that poly is so diverse I am sure there is a lot of people who are for and against this issue.

It is true that America is not what it once was. I can't even afford to travel to Europe this year with my family because the euro is so much more then the undervalued dollar is today. We're rounding down near the Peso now, I can't believe it. It used to be eleven pesos to one dollar in the late nineties, now it's  four pesos to a dollar. ( a peso is the Mexican currency)

What about China and there unfathomable fast paced production and growth in the world. Are they going to be what America once was? I mean, Asia and especially Eastern Asia are way more advanced technologically then we are here in the U.S.

What about oil...? We can't even take over a small, very unstable country such as Iraq? How long is it going to take before someone just says, we want your crude oil, and we want to stop fighting, take it or leave it. The thing is, if we don't hurry, we are not going to have that type of demanding power.

With the Peso getting more even with the dollar, China growing rapidly, and America's selfish needs for Iraq and there oil, are we going to be able to restore the reputation we once had?

But, lets not forget, what ever happens on this planet happens, because we allow it to happen.
