I love good coincidences. I have a regular list of mp3 blogs I read and download from, some better than others, and I recently downloaded some free samples of The Essex Green, a Brooklyn-based trio (two guys, one girl) drenched in 60's melodies and harmonies. And I'm all about melody and harmony, as most of you know, and I'm a sucker for bright, poppy music.
So then I noticed that The Essex Green are coming to Solar Culture on Monday, May 8th. Great, I thought. Then, boom, an
article by the The Tucson Weekly's (and U of A english, grad student) Annie Houlb validating my appreciation of the band.
Lina and I are going on Monday.
I'm also psyched about
Snakes on a Plane. I was tipped about SNOAP through the Best Week Ever a few weeks back. The title alone had me in the theater. But when I heard that the film had cheesy computer generated snakes AND Samuel L. Jackson, I made it my personal mission to make Snakes on a Plane the highest grossing film of all time.
I imagine that Snakes on a Plane will be, like, the Citizen Kane of snakes on plane movies.
