Saturday night was a Logan gig plus a Cambridge furs gathering. I met the furs at the pub, then buggered off to play the gig, and fled the gig after we'd played to meet the furs back at Leo's place. The gig was a bit of a shambles, but seemed to go down okay. I was using a drum kit on which the top tom's batter head was comprised mainly of gaffer tape, not known for its resonant qualities. When I hit the toms, hardly any sound came out, and they weren't mic'ed up. The kit also had a tendency to move around whilst being played. On the plus side, I got a tick in my rock'n'roll I-Spy book for having a drunk punter fall into the kit during a song. Amazingly this didn't make the kit any worse! I played pretty well I guess, but I still start one or two of the songs thinking "oh dear, I still haven't got around to practicing this so I can do it properly"...
Back at the ranch we watched an episode of "Yes, Minister", which seemed really dated and slow to me, but everyone else seemed to like it a lot. We played Munchkin and a game I forget the name of in which you draw a map and get points in an over-complicated fashion for completing cities, roads and fields and things. It was nice to see Durandal et al.* again, and Leo and Delph were delightful hosts.
Oh dear, that seems to have been a "what I did at the weekend" post; I'm sure I had something substantive to say. Oh well. Seems a waste not to hit 'update' now...
* I can remember everyone who was there, but a list seems so... redundant.
