so i took benny to meet diesel.
i've been calling him benny a lot lately. instead of benson. but he is such a benny. big-ass dork.
anyway.
so diesel is a pit-bull mix that looks like he was tied up on a short chain under a car his whole life. he has scars all over his body, but clearly not from fighting. just from human abuse. he was emaciated when he came in, but after lisa's good ol' fattening diet, his ribs are barely visible. so everything is new to him. he's never had a warm bed, a nice meal, met a cat or another dog, he's never had a massage or a nice big hug before bedtime. until he came to our shelter. and he is adjusting really well to everything. he was said to have had food aggression to humans when he came in, but never showed any of that with us. just seemed so grateful for a nice, big meal. you can take the food from his bowl and feed it to him out of your hand.
so, diesel has improved a lot.
i took benson for diesel to meet because benson has excellent dog manners.
he greets all dogs exactly like he should, no rudeness, and he's never pushy.
so i wanted diesel to have a good experience.
and it was really nice to see it all unfold.
within a few minutes benson and diesel were running and playing with each other.
benson had to correct him like, two times. because diesel kept trying to hump benny. he put up with it for the most part, but had to give a few looks.
i am just constantly facinated with the canine, and their way of communicating, and how every single canine.. no matter what the breed, speaks the same language.
so i can sit and watch it for days. and just observe. and take it all in.
and learn.
i love dogs
they are constantly teaching me so many things.
i can't wait for everyone to meet benson.
he's a big love, with a face no one can resist.
and he looks to be a cane corso.
we'll see when he is fully grown.
i NEED A COUCH. or a huge bean bag.
