BEYOND proud of my girl at her well-visit to the pediatrician the other day. I seriously can't stop raving about this, to everyone. No fussing. No tears (well, up til the flu shot, but then who could blame her). No running around. Minimal climbing. She sat in the waiting area and played with a toy or a book until it was her turn. They were able to do tests she had never cooperated for before - eyesight, hearing, and a urine test (I helped her pee in the cup). She responded to direction, and to questions. The doctor was completely wowed by the skyrocket in behaviour, and I told everyone at school when I was there today too, and the raving continues from them. I know she won't be at this school too much longer, but I don't have to worry about that til her next IEP meeting, and I am in no rush. It's funny how absolutely EVERYONE there knows her. I popped by the nurse's office today for a bandaid (my strumming finger was getting a bit sore after playing for 4 hours nonstop), and they were all "you're Gracie's mom! She visits us! We love her!" I seriously need a nametag that says "Gracie's Mom" on it...then again, everyone knows me already.
Today was their fall-fest, and I will get round to posting pictures of the entries from the school-wide pumpkin-carving contest because they were adorable, and when I arrived and asked what I could do to help, I was told to simply provide music. So I sat in a corner and played and sang for four hours. Anything I wanted, over and over (since my repertoire is limited), and I got to practise songs for upcoming occasions, and "I'm A Believer" was a HUGE hit, and I kept telling people that song is NOT originally from Shrek. I practised the Time Warp for next week when I come in for Halloween, and three songs for the open mic I will be playing in at the Way Station on 11/19 (I had thought I would only play one song, he wants 3, eep). Can't decide if I should make the third a cover, a parody, or my pirate song. Thoughts?
