Mad Men -- "Indian Summer"

I like some of the new shows, but none of them entertains me as much as this one. Maybe that's not fair, since this one is on Episode 11.

Agua di Beber," Astrud Gilberto

Here's the thing: I listen to this piece of music all the time. In fact, it was playing in the party suite back in May.

What was there not to love about this episode? (Okay, maybe a weird cut at the end of the second act.) So it makes it hard to create a list.

I love how Dan Draper is actually mentoring Peggy: from giving her the assignment, to how he works with her present the information, to telling her how to ask for (and then giving) the raise and the change in responsibilities. Don Draper kicks ass.

And again, I want to kick Kartheiser's ass all over the playground for being an obnoxious prick. Perhaps he's typecast as an obnoxious prick, or he's just not that great an actor. He killed a whole season of Angel for me, and, like there, I think his acting is the worse of the bunch.

Other things:
-I loved the delivery of Joan's "Can I kiss you?" and then tearing up at the compliment she both got and didn't get at the same time. Fantastic acting, right there.

-Is Elizabeth Moss actually gaining weight for the role or are they using padding? Because she's gained weight incredibly quickly, if so.

-Who needs the Electra-whatever when you have a washing machine? :-)

-And, finally, the Jewish female friend swearing "Jesus!" at the revelation that the Goy is married. Fantastic.

I said finally above. But we all know I'm a lying liar who lies.

I love "Agua di Beber." I own it, too. I love how "di" is "zhee" in Portuguese.

AmyCurl, I think he's supposed to be an obnoxious prick. I think the fact that he's getting under our skins suggests that Kartheiser is doing a good job. (I reacted comparably to Affleck in "Mallrats.")

-- Christina Hendricks was great in the "Can I kiss you?" scene, wasn't she? And my God, is she gorgeous.

-- I think they padded EM for this episode. Hollywood being the world capital of superficiality, I don't see her putting on that much weight while still trying to maintain her career.

Who needs the Electra-whatever when you have a washing machine? :-)
Heh. May I borrow your fan? ;-)

That was funny.
