The snow is falling again...

It's snowing beautifully outside even though it's supposed to be April now instead of December. Not that I'm complaining, quite the opposite. It's all so mesmerising, something I could look at for hours... Winter seems to be my favourite time of year and now that it's slipping through my fingers, I long for it more than ever. And then this little reminder of what I used to have... *sigh* To have a good book and a bowl full of delicious white chocolate pasha to go with it while the most skilled of trumpet talents plays in the background my favourite tunes. Sometimes life is so good :)

Already waiting for November, actually. The coming winter ski jumping season is said to bring one of my all time favourite skijumpers/fliers, Harri Olli, back to the game (and no other than the famous Nykänen as his coach, oh my) ... I've missed seeing that boy fly. He used to do it so impressively and spellbindingly that it took my breath away more often than not. There's so much potential in that boy, let's hope they'll let him jump in peace this time to fully realise it.

But before that, Paris and Amsterdam. Just around the corner, in fact.
Anyone been there before? Any hints on what I should go see or do? I really don't know those places at all, since I'm merely to be an interpretor and not a tour guide, but for the free time, even if it's just a short time after all... Well. I'm curious and open to suggestions.
Anyone want a post card, drop me a line. I enjoy writing them, gives the feeling that I truly am somewhere and not just dreaming it up...

And a dream it seemed when I finally got my hands on DS9: Prophecy and Change. There are so many things I could say about the book, but... it's like coming home from a long journey, tired, fatigued and somewhat down, to find the company of long-lost friends awaiting for you with big smiles on their faces and some pats in the back. To bump into a mint copy in a second-hand music shop was really a surprise, but a most welcome one at that! DS9 used to be my favourite TV series and I still rue that I didn't buy all the books while they were still available. Millennium London was full of wonderful things, but back then I couldn't afford them. And now, classics like Stitch in Time are so pricey I still won't afford them. *rolls eyes* But I can always dream and this book reminded me again of the dreams I lost long ago. As if I was a child again, with all the world ahead of me :)
(Actually, there was a bit of Paris in Garak's tale, but that's not much to plan a travel route on... Do most of the things I know about Paris really come from either Star Trek or the Vampire Chronicles? Hm.)

Yet right now I just wish I could go back home to St. Petersburg. For some reason I love that town. Not that I didn't in some way enjoy the time spent in Vyborg, but Piter has this peculiar atmosphere that no other big city quite can create, leave alone maintaining it! The grand old lady on the Neva River has captured my heart. I even got news of the beauty who once stole my heart away and still hasn't returned it - still fine and actually seeming to prosper, which would be great for my troubled heart. I'll still have Piter for both of us, keep in my heart our time there forever.

Currently on the edge of my seat waiting for news on my future, but it seems to take at least a month or so before anything will be made known, so I'll just try to be patient about it. It's not like I don't have much to do. It seems the walls are closing in on me and I just don't have the time to get all things done, yet things are looking up.

Wishing that you and yours are well and healthy and full of joy! And if not, may whatever comes be for the best for all of you :) My thoughts and good wishes are with you, my friends.
