Moving to the City

So, after having wanted to move to San Francisco for a while now, I am finally going to do it. Although I have wanted to move to San Francisco, I have loved living with Andrea & Robert, so I've stayed in the south bay. Well, with them gettin married and heading for the domesticated life, they kinda don't want a roommate anymore... It'll suck not living with them, but as George said, "All things must pass."

So, the opportunity to move to SF is now open, and due to luck, Joey and Catherine have an available room. This is perfect because I didn't really want to live with strangers... Plus, I usually spend at least one night a month on their couch. And, I love the inner sunset. I'm gonna love having a city on my doorstep...

I'm still gonna work where I do, which means commuting (YAY!!!), but I am hoping to find something new in SF or up the Peninsula more.

I do wonder how long it will take before I feel like San Francisco is my home. I almost already feel like an impostor. How long will it take to shed my San Jose skin? I've lived in San Jose all 27 years of my life, and there is a lot of suburbanite in me. Nick Hornby in High Fidelity wrote something about people moving to the big city to escape dull lives (I don't consider my life dull, though) only to lead the same life in the big city. With Joey around, I'm not sure dull will be possible, though...

It should be quite the adventure...

Another adventure awaits me tonight. At 8:00pm I board a plane heading for Vegas. I've surprisingly never have been there, so it should be crazy. I'm going with Andrea, Robert, Karin, Tony, Jamie, Chris, and Chris' brother. We'll be our own stumbling drunk party...

Now, if this day would just end...
