Just one of those generates 3kw of energy. That's more than enough to power your home and then some, likely putting far more back into the grid than you're using. Just think of what that could do to the world of power generation, if everyone had one of these things out on their lawn. Even without a battery system for times when the sun is down, you'd likely be putting so much more power into the grid than you're using, that you'd still be in the black at night.
Now if only I knew what one of the things cost! I doubt they'd cost all that much, as I've seen similar models go for around $7000 or so. Still, prices may have changed. Something like that would likely pay for itself soon enough, especially if you were getting paid by the utility companies for excess energy put into the grid.
If I had a proper house with a lawn, I'd sure buy one. :3 We get quite a lot of sun over the year, even up here in the frozen north.
