Hello Again ...
Checkin' in after a break. I know, I know ... how DARE I ignore the intarwebs in favor of real life!!!
This has been a busy travel summer for me. After my husband got home from a trip, we promptly set off for a family vacay (mandatory!). Shortly after that ... heading out for Rolling Sturgis!! (For you FB junkies, Rolling Sturgis!)
(& yes ... this means that I AM attempting to use that damned thing -- at least the athlete page. I haven't quite been able to bring myself to do anything with the profile page yet. It kind of makes my insides curl up & hide in dark corners. I'd say "soul" ... but as we all know, I've sold that online years ago! I COULD do something like provide you all a link ... but odds are you all know how to use it MUCH better than me, so you can just find it yourself! hehe)
Less than a week after getting home -- Semi-finals!
The next day ... old school tug of war across Town Lake ala Aqua Fest (RIP). (Lady Bird Lake for you "foreigners" aka "new Austinites" aka "useless hipsters"). Sadly, South Austin (aka MayOr MayNot & the Texas Rollergirls) "lost" by losing our balance & going backwards (sideways) off the pier ... JUST on the verge of pulling that bloody North Austin group (the Austin Facial Hair Society or whatever they are called) into the lake. We totally were 1 or 2 pulls into winning when we just lost balance. :(
(I think why I like MayOr MayNot (aka Lee Leffingwell) is that I think that he remembers what Austin SHOULD be & does a lot of little things to try to keep it alive. This includes really loving working with Texas Rollergirls & his reaction to Leslie Cochran's death. I have NO IDEA about his politics or success as an actual Mayor.)
In theory, I am going to try to post derby training stuff here ... feel free to ignore. I COULD make it easier for you by "tagging" things, but where is the fun in that! lol
