Done angst-ing (for now)

A few hours ago, I angst-ed about The Walking Dead article. Well... that's done now. Over it. Moving on.

Although I have to say, more amusing memories actually came back when I listened to my recording of the interview again on my phone.

See, the model of the Q&A was not exactly a sit-down roundtable interview, but more like a press con in which the two stars - Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln - were up on a stage, sitting on armchairs, with decorative tables in front of them. So we had to put our recording devices - my HTC phone named Ichabod, in my case - on those tables so we could record what they were saying. For the half hour duration of the Q&A, these devices didn't move. Once the session was done, everyone moved forward to retrieve their gadgets. Everyone except me.

People swarmed Reedus and Lincoln, asking for photos and signatures, and I was busy doing the same. Just as Reedus was signing my comic book, I heard Lincoln up on stage shouting, "Hey, whose phone is this?" I looked to him and... yes, there he was, lifting my phone up in the air, looking for its owner. I was MORTIFIED.

In the commotion I had simply forgotten about my phone. My brand new expensive phone that my mom gifted to me, a device that she would probably punish me for if I'd lost it not even a month after we'd bought it. All for the sake of chasing celebrities. Seriously, I was embarrassed by the damn episode. And as you might imagine, Andrew Lincoln himself handed me over that phone with an amused smile on his face once I confessed that the phone was indeed mine. Believe me, sir, you have every right to be amused.

I look back on this episode now with a smile and a cringe on my face. I just couldn't believe I could be that careless. This usually doesn't happen to me as I'm constantly hyper vigilant of my belongings. I guess meeting zombie hunters could do weird things to your awareness! (After this, I'm pretty sure no one would want me in their zombie hunting crew. Understandably so!)

Thankfully, I can still manage as a journalist. I've only got one big feature, one short review and an event write-up to go in this infernal deadline.

the walking dead, work
