This week I've been so distracted by The Avengers (and everything Brothers Grimm) that I somehow neglected to watch the latest episode of Glee... and I still don't feel like watching it right now. *laughs*
Yesterday, I went for my third viewing of The Avengers. Still doing the FABULOKI dress code of green-black-gold and still finding the Hulk!Smash scene extremely hilarious. Still applauded the key scenes and still got teary eyed at the other scenes. It looks to be one of my Top 5 films of 2012, although maybe The Hobbit is going to come out on top.
And speaking of The Hobbit, this is the one movie I'm waiting for with all of my being. It's the one I can't wait to watch, with the same impatience I felt about The Avengers. It's like, IS IT DECEMBER 14TH YET?! I WANT TO SEE BILBO AND THE DWARVES NOW! I hold back on saying too much about it for fear of breaking down from the anticipation. I can't even explain to you how that feels because just to tap into that emotion - of the desperate curiosity and longing for something that feels familiar and yet not.
There are still a few major movies to see before I get to Martin Freeman donning Bilbo's hair, clothes and feet in December, but they don't carry the same emotional weight. With The Dark Knight Rises, I'm both eager and apprehensive for it. I fear for what Christopher Nolan has in store for Bruce Wayne and Batman. (I suspect he may die or have his back broken by Bane. If any of these two happens, I will probably fall down from my chair and dive under it and SOB MY BLEEDING HEART OUT.) With Skyfall, I'm curious to see what happens to Bond but not as great as my curiosity for Batman's fate. And while the ensemble cast is exciting, I'm still not sure what they're going to do in the movie. And with Prometheus, I'm just plain frightened of Ridley Scott's scare tactics and can only approach this movie with extreme caution.
Well. The great thing is, I might not be running out of movies to watch between now and The Hobbit. And I'll be quite happy to watch The Avengers repeatedly until then. Besides, I still have to do my annual re-reading of The Hobbit, so there's plenty to keep me occupied.
I suppose now I should step out of this Avengers mania and go back into the real world. I have articles and reviews to write and submit, as well as books to read, TV shows to catch up on, life to... continue living in. That's it from The Avengers weekend.
