Hi Everyone,
I thought that I should pass this on...
A woman posted on the Milwaukee Craigslist about having adopted a puppy, Molly (6 mo. old black lab/golden retriever mix), who she just discovered has severe hip dysplasia. She, unfortunately, doesn't have the funds for the surgery that is needed to help Molly continue walking.
I called the vet's office and spoke with the receptionist for a few minutes, and confirmed Molly's case. The vet had actually recommended that Molly see a specialist to have a TPO (Triple Pelvic Osteotomy), which would have to be done before Molly is done growing, and would be more expensive. Her other option is to have an FHO done to each leg- this is less expensive and must be completed when the dog is fully grown- 4-6 months from now. However, the surgery will still cost approx. $2,000. This is the option Molly's guardian has decided to go with- I'm assuming because it is less expensive and she has more time to raise the money for the surgery (although it would be nice if she had enough money to do the more highly recommended surgery). The receptionist said that right now Molly is on medication and bed rest.
I do not know, and have not spoken with Molly's guardian, Brandi... I just thought she would be grateful if I passed the info along...
If you wish to donate, you can paypal her the $, or call the vet's office and donate directly to them.
