Mentions of Shawn/Mary
Rating: PG
I suppose it's AU.
In a few words: Mary survived his stabbing. Shawn and Gus discuss a kissing incident between the faux psychic and Mary. ]
"You did what?" Burton immediately put down his sandwhich, raising his brows and giving a little head tilt "Pease tell me by Mary you mean some secret girl, possibly a waitress, that you used all your dad's moves on to score."
"Listen, Gus, I have my own moves too. Like the whole kitten stuck in the tree thing. .. it worked , once." Shawn said chugging on his soda looking at Gus then to Gus' sand-which.
"You called me out here not to have lunch but to get advice didn't you?" Gus said, a triumphant sort of grin forming on his lips.
"Ah ah ah, Gus, not advice just ... venting." Shawn made a face and brushed back some hair. "Why would I need advice on stuff like this anyway? Pfft."
"So ... it's Mary, Mary?" Gus asked watching Shawn, and Shawn didn't care for it. He knew when good old Guster was trying to get a read on him.
"Mary. Who's father was Mary-" Shawn took a deep breath continuing on "-who's father before him was Mary AND father before that was Craig." After the theatric answer Shawn looked back at Gus frowning as his friend shook his head.
"That guy he's really .... something else." Gus looked around then, lowering his voice, leaned forward "He said he'd buy a doll made of human skin, Shawn. I don't care how soft and cocoa buttery someone's skin is, that's just weird." With that Gus leaned back seemingly already decided on the subject.
"His skin is really soft." Shawn cut in then waved his hand, deciding he didn't want Gus to respond to that. Gus' look was response enough.
"You said it was just a kiss, Shawn." Gus stared, raising a brow now.
"Lips, then, happy?" Shawn corrected and Gus stared at him skeptically.
"Shawn you thought he was a killer for a reason. Honestly, he gives me the heeby jeebies." Gus said, still unsure.
"He can be a little eccentric. I mean thought he was just kidding about the hat thing but he does know the art of folding paper." Shawn trailed and then blinked "He isn't a killer I still am surprised I even fell for that." Shawn shook his head. "Gus, I was really freaked when we found him that day and ... "
"I remember." Gus said quietly, looking down and sighing. "He is smart, I guess."
"Hm?" Shawn said grining some looking at Gus. "Are you doign what I think you're doing?"
Gus gave Shawn a look, not answering him then paused "So...?"
"Now is not the time for sewing, Gus."
Gus rolled his eyes then looked to his friend accusingly "Shawn, are you avoiding him?"
"Like the plaque. It actually isn't hard but--"
"It's 'like the plague' Shawn-" Gus shot him a look to keep Shawn from claiming he had 'heard it both ways' - " ...and you said you kissed him. You can't kiss someone then avoid them. There are like rules for these things. "
"Gus, Gus, Gus." Shawn said then seemed to actually try to conjure something to say "I dunno I guess it's just weird..."
"It's Mary, what do you expect?" Gus said simply then shook his head "I think the problem is you know he likes you."
"Why is that a problem,Gus? People like to be liked back, that is how liking works. I happen to enjoy being liked." Shawn said taking a sip of his now watered down soda.
"You normally like a challenge or someone hard to get. " Gus said looking to Shawn, as if determining if his statement struck a chord.
Shawn just gave a mock scoff and waved his hand. He knew to a point Gus was correct. Mary's returned feelings made him nervous. Sure Shawn had dated Abigail and she seemed to care for him but Shawn didn't like her the same way so he wasn't nervous.
Mary had already almost died because of him too. If Yin, or Yang, came back to do anything then Mary would be targeted yet again along with everyone else Shawn knows. Seeing Mary bleeding and having him seem so comfortable with dying shook Shawn.
"Does that explain all the Lassiter stuff?" Gus asked, wanting a little bit more romance dirt on his friend, his gossiping side showing.
"Gus, really, I don't kiss and tell."
". . . That's what you just did here, Shawn."
"Oh, right." Shawn said, grining to himself.
"Did you kiss Lassiter too?" Gus couldn't help but inquire.
"Lassie isn't the point."
"He's really your type?"
Shawn stared at Gus now, less amused.
"AND MARY? I mean, you have some weird taste."
"Actually he's a pretty good kisser, tasted like pie too..." Shawn licked his lips.
"That is a little more than I'd like to know Shawn." Gus said, flatly, and didn't bother continue with his previous questioning. "Why are you
avoiding him then? You care about him, and you don't have to admit it but you do, not to mention he likes you back. Just go ask him on a date or something." Gus shrugged simply and with that ate his sandwhich.
Shawn quieted to ponder it. A date, huh?
