Don't Vote!!
I don’t think I can say strongly enough how I feel about encouraging people to get out and vote. PLEASE DON’T DO IT!!!! Here is my reasoning:
If we, as a nation, want people elected that are deserving of their offices do we want just any schmo voting them in? I sure as hell don’t. In fact I am of the mindset that you shouldn’t even allow an option for straight party voting to begin with or even showing the party affiliation of a candidate. I don’t want a mass of uninformed fools who are just going to vote for the Donkey or the Elephant regardless of who is running devaluing my educated vote. In fact I won’t vote in an election where I don’t know anything about the candidates. I didn’t vote in 2 of the elections on the ballot yesterday because I was uninformed in regards to those races and I did not want to devalue the efforts of those who were.
This is what pisses me off about people telling others to get out and vote. That is like telling people that no matter their awareness of issues or the stances of the candidates they want them out there to vote anyway. While voter apathy is a problem, just telling people to get out and vote and NOT be informed is even worse!!! This is just bullshit and I have felt this ever since I was in high school.
Understand that I am not just sitting here ranting telling people who are educated on the issues and disagree with me not to vote. That is not it at all. I am simply saying that I want those who are not informed on either side to stay home and not vote. If someone does not have the interest to get out there and learn about the candidates and the matters at hand then do not encourage them to go to the polls. Let their apathy keep them home wondering why the liquor stores are closed.
