Kaos needs a home... again... *sigh*

Some of you will remember my posting about Kaos a few months ago. She's the dog who'd wound up in Miami Dade Animal Services after getting separated from her owner (we still don't know what happened to Benedict). A bunch of people pulled together to help my sister (who had befriended Kaos and Benedict before they left NYC) get her pulled from the shelter, vetted, fostered, and eventually transported to what was expected to be her forever home in central Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, due to a teenager who's sometimes in the home and who has apparently turned out to be majorly freaked out by "big" dogs, Kaos finds herself needing a new home again. :-( The adopters kept her for a couple of months while helping to look for a new placement, but Kaos' time with them has run out and she's now being boarded in a kennel in central Pennsylvania.

Kaos is about 1.5 years old, medium-sized (weighed 59 pounds when she was vetted after leaving MDAS), and is a friendly and outgoing dog. She's healthy, up-to-date on all shots, and has been spayed. She generally gets along well with other dogs, though she probably won't back down if they start trouble (she had an initial skirmish with the other dog in her adoptive home... he's food-aggressive and they were fed in close proximity to each other. She subsequently became buddies with him and there are pictures of them together here (she's the larger of the two dogs in the pictures). She does chase cats, and we don't know if she's chasing because they look like fun playmates or because they look like a tasty snack, so potential foster/adoptive families should either be cat-free or have dog-savvy cats and be willing to tackle the process of teaching Kaos appropriate dog/cat manners.

I'll be honest... I don't know how long she can stay at the kennel because I'm not made of money and I'm currently donating the boarding bill. So sooner rather than later would be ideal in finding her either a new permanent home or a foster home. I'd foster her, but I have an appointment for Chase to go to Purdue to see about cataract surgery and I'm not sure I'd be doing anybody any favors by introducing a fourth dog into my pack just before Chase has to undergo a lengthy recovery period (there's going to be a lot of crate time for the other dogs so that nobody plays too rough w/ Chase while he gets well!).

If you're interested in fostering Kaos or adding her to your family, let me know and I can make sure you get all the up-to-date info on her. If you know people who might be good Kaos-parents, please point them to this post and to Tales of Kaos for the whole backstory. If you'd love to help but can't foster or adopt, we'll happily take donations towards the boarding bill ($13.50/day at the rescue rate... contact me for PayPal info). If "too much" money gets donated (is there ever too much money in rescue??), the remainder will be split between NYC Shiba Rescue (which Jenna runs) and Above & Beyond English Setter Rescue (the rescue where I fostered and then adopted Thunder, as well as fostering Ruff and doing lots of Setter transports) after all of Kaos' bills are paid and she's settled in her new home.

rescue, kaos
