Title: In Which There Is No Welcome to Be Had
Author: Huinárë
Characters/Pairing: Grima, Lotho Sackville-Baggins
Rating: G
Warnings: n/a (yeah, I know that character combination sounds ominous, but not just yet).
Book/Source: LotR
Disclaimer: Characters belong to Tolkien.  No profit reaped by myself, aside from a wealth of intellectual giddiness.

I feel like I kinda cheated with the way I worked the prompt in, but it was either this or more Saruman Behaving Badly.

Late September

Gríma skulked from his shanty into dusk.  On Bag End’s stoop, Lotho smoked, dour.

“What’re you, anyhow?” the hobbit called.  “You’re not like them ruffians.”

“Charmed.”  Gríma disliked the ruffians.  He answered with his remnant of importance, half expecting Saruman to appear with scathing contradiction, “I’m Sharkey’s friend.”

Lotho snorted.  “Right.  Then tell him to magic my toothache away.  They say he’s a magician.”

“Not exactly, sorry.  Could I smoke a bit?” Gríma blurted.

“Got any coin?”

“No.”

“Can you get my poor mother out of the Lockholes?”

“No.”

Lotho waved his pipe, dismissive.  “Then off my property.”
