There's nothing wrong with the occasional bit of self-indulgence [/guilty]

That said, the ending is just a tad on the sugary side *g*

I'm excusing myself on the grounds that I already wrote the survival scenario, these this is just a short continuation.

There. Fixed that for you.

And I know not to stray near the timesink that is the crack-van:-0

Anyway, I think it's the exclamation marks that contain the sugar....

You're too kind.

And I know not to stray near the timesink that is the crack-van:-0

Damn!

I mean, I was just citing my source, that's all...

Anyway, I think it's the exclamation marks that contain the sugar....

I did hesitate over those. I'll have to think about them. Later. Thanks!

Sometimes I wonder if Tolkien did some calculus and decided: "Well, I killed Hama and Theoden, so that lets Eothain live, Gollum's going to die, so that counts for Hobbits, plus Merry and Pippin will both eventually be horribly wounded, to say nothing of Frodo and Sam. Boromir died for Gondor - sorry dude. Elves are leaving, so they get a pass. And Dain, Ori, Oin, and Balin are on the Die list for Dwarves. Who does that leave me with? Oh, Northern Dunedain. Sorry [scribbles new name] Halbarad!"

Yeah. I hate to say this, but I definitely feel like Tolkien wrote Halbarad with the express purpose of showing up, saying "Hi look brave Dunedan here!" and dying.

Aliana: See, Hal? At least in fanfic you get an actual death scene, not just an "Oh, by the way, he died" mention.
Halbarad: Yeah, that makes me feel so much better.

Never let it be said that I cannot be suckered by a name fulfilling a generic scope-generating function well. I totally can be when it's played right, i.e., in conjunction with Aragorn, heh heh.

Self indulgence to be commended :) I like this. All we need now is Halbarad and Boromir bonding over a game of chess. Thanks for sharing.

If this is too sweet self-indulgence, then I like too sweet self-indulgence (and I went to read Resurrection and enjoyed it immensely)!

Heh. Everyone's sugar levels seem to be satisfied with this one. Glad you liked Resurrection! That one was a lot of fun to write.
