 I like Grandmother's practicality, and the nice play on words in the final line. I bet the first thing that comes to her mind if/when she sees Princess Lothiriel is an assessment of whether she's got 'good child-bearing hips'.

Thank you - and yes I think child-bearing hips would be high on her list of requirements in a new queen!

I'm so happy to see some bounty coming to this hard-working family. What a delightful story.

Éomer is doing his best by his people - there was a small bounty in mid-winter and now a small help for the farmers... a good king, I think.

Lightening up a bit in this one, especially compared to the one immediately preceding it!

Life's like that - even in solemnity there will be moments to lighten it, I find! And yet Grandmother is right in a way - it could be said that Éomer sold his body and his crown to keep his people safe, for Lothiriel would almost certainly have brought a dowry large by the measures of Gondor. And as it was not in horses, I can see Éomer putting it to a practical use!

This made me happy. It is so good to see Eomer looking out for his people, and it also is a very real feeling take on how the common people would have judged Eomer's marriage. Well done. I love the voice of both your characters here.

Thank you.

It is so good to see Eomer looking out for his people,

In the first series we see Éomer sending out supplies in the middle of winter - I think he would have always been aware of losses in his own éored and extended that to his country; or perhaps Osred's father and grandfather rode in Éomer's éored...

I love the voice of both your characters here.

Thank you!
