Star Map
White star-constellations radiate out from blue-black vellum. Some he recognises. The Dragon, the River, the Huntsman..., but many he knows he’s unable to see. This map was made by people whose eyes were tuned to monochrome, who lived their lives by eternal starlight. No sun...no moon.
Eowyn looks down at the cold, terrible stars, dusky-blue nebulas and winding stellar roads.
She’s held by a memory of looking into a reflected sky. A glittering indigo abyss below the ends of her hair. A brief temptation to let herself fall...and break free of the pattern of days. Float forever among reflected stars.
