Hmm - in my Buffy cross-over a trainee watcher is very, very happy to hear as much as he can about the edhel - and to compare them with folklore and stories worldwide because 'the greater the correlation the more likely that there had been some contact between the dimensions in the past'... so bumping into Thranduil would fit in.

In my mind the players have got hold of a copy of the Complete Works that has somehow fallen down a rabbit hole into Middle Earth!
