It suddenly occurred to me that one day, he would dance at Midsummer in Ithilien with his folk... and with Gimli. I'm so glad this worked for you.

Thank you! My first version of this ran to nearly 150 words and I wasn't sure if it would still work after all the paring down.

Sometimes I can bang out more-or-less 100 words first go - I've been drabbling long enough now that my fingers must know roughly how many lines I get! - but this would easily have been a longer scene. I had to cut out description ruthlessly. I'm glad it still holds together.

Exactly it. I'm glad that worked for you. I had a mental image of the warriors' dance as almost like the whirling of dervishes, inducing a trance-like state in which an Elf might well have visions.

I love the idea of the warriors' dance, and the merging of other midsummer celebrations. It's wonderful to think of Gimli joining him in the future.

It is, isn't it? I've seen some lovely fics comparing the dancing styles of Elves and Dwarves, which is probably where this idea came from...
