How did Huan end up with Tyelkormo as his master? Was he given to him, or did he adopt him? Written for Tolkien Weekly prompt “swimming”, a true drabble of 100 words.
Huan’s Choice
The puppies were old enough to leave their mother, and Tyelkormo was leaving at the end of the week to return to his. He settled down with the dogs one more time, rolling in the dirt, pulling on a rope, and getting licked. He would miss them.
Lord Oromë came out of the stable. “Go to the far side of the lake and call the pups,” he instructed. Tyelkormo obeyed, calling and whistling for the dogs to come. Most went around the lake, but one jumped into it and swam towards him. “That one goes home with you,” Oromë said.
