They say it’s a wise child that knows its father. Steward, commander… father of beloved Captain Boromir. By repute… devoted husband, by scurrilous rumour… cruel and wanton in his youth… so many faces he showed to the world… yet he showed little to me.
I remember him withdrawing, at least, I think I do - after Mother died. Although the women looking after us say he was there. Nanny says he visited when we were asleep; later, he had Amah report regularly… Mag was instructed to bake treats…
Yet… I never knew my father. It’s a mistake I must not repeat.
