Théodred sucked air. He leant against the palisade struggling to control his roaring pulse, breathing hard from the sudden, violent exertion. The unforeseen assault had taken him by surprise, but hardened warrior that he was he’d soon come nimbly to a stand, found his stance, tackling his opponent hand-to-hand, blow for blow... They’d tussled mightily for dominance, rolling this way and that in the shadows behind the brewhouse.
He glanced at his assailant, whose shoulders sagged, boneless, all will spent.
“What...” gasped Théodred, “...was that about?”
“I thought... you said you had... a strong need brewing!” panted Boromir.
