Denethor was still bent over his papers when he heard the door to his study open and close. He looked up and saw his five-year-old granddaughter, Finduilas.
He set down his quill and looked at her. "Shouldn't you be in bed?"
She nodded, her green eyes big and serious. But then she came to him. "Papa said I could have a bedtime story," she said.
He was fairly certain that this hadn't been what Boromir had in mind, but he lifted her into his lap anyway. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "You always know the best stories, Grandpa."
