In her story ‘Captain, my Captain’ Isabeau of Greenleaf has Prince Imrahil telling stories of “the Dread Pirate Erchirion, his First Mate… Amrothos, and his Second Mate… Lothiriel”. This drabble owes much to that inspiration.
The Dread Pirate Erchirion was not aboard the vessel sailing across the nursery floor under full sail. Perhaps under full tablecloth would have been more accurate, but the upturned table was certainly a carpet-going vessel in fine order.
Her captain being detained in the schoolroom there was now serious scuffling, broaching on mutiny, over who was in command.
“I am the Dread Pirate Amrothos and I say we set a course due north!”
“No - I am Captain Lothíriel the Black.” She paused. “Because you can’t even see where we’re going when you hold the spy-glass to your eye-patch by mistake!”
