The first time Lothíriel saw frost she was five years old. She had looked out and seen the sparkling white, that tipped the grass and the leaves of the evergreen bushes, and thought the Lady Uinen had tossed sea salt up onto the castle grounds. She had thought it beautiful.
She ran outdoors, laughing with pleasure. Amrothos laughed louder when Lothíriel’s slippered foot found a patch of ice and she landed on her bottom with a squeak.
Years later he would remind her of that, gleefully, when pointing out that Rohan would get colder winters than her Dol Amroth home.
