The storm caught them by surprise, as such things do. The sea had been friendly and welcoming when they had set out for the day, but then it had become sullen and surly and they knew it was time to head for home.
Now it angrily snapped at their heels as they hauled on the main sheet to bring the boom around.
“Duck, ‘Rothos!” Lothiriel shouted from her seat at the tiller.
“Hang on, Lothy!” Yelled Erchirion two minutes later.
The dinghy heeled hard, and then they were safe; Imrahil, ashore, tried to look as if he expected no less.
