Minas Ithil shone pink and gold the next morning, as Anor rose above the Tower of the Moon. Dawn heralded the arrival of birds to the top of the Tower. A table was spread with grains, berries, and small fish. The party, accompanied by Faramir, watched birds of many colours devour the feast.
The white birds, circling above her, stirred Elanor’s heart. “Them’s the gulls, Lord Faramir?” she whispered.
Faramir nodded. “Aye, Lady Elanor; they break their fast here upon the White Tower on feast-days, but venture no nearer to Ithilien-en-Edhil, lest Prince Legolas lose his folk to their cry.”
