Decorations Challenge: Glitter, Candle/Light
Title: Eastern Tidings, At Long Last

Nimloth raced over the glittering gem-strewn beaches, laughing for the joy of the sun on her face and the wind in her hair, racing the shadow of a seabird that glided gracefully overhead. When Nimloth reached the water, the bird soared on, and then dropped into the waves. Moments later, Elwing surfaced, her laughter bright as the sun-spangled sea.
As Nimloth swam out to join her, a small, swift skiff from Avallonë hailed them, a young sailor hanging out so far his hair skimmed the water as he pointed to the horizon. “A ship has come out of the East!”

She had last seen them beneath a flickering candle, their eyes big and dark with fear. The sounds of fighting, of dying, had echoed through the many halls of Menegroth. “Stay still, stay silent,” Nimloth had said, kissing them both before leaving them behind the statue to scout ahead.
She had never returned. Bright-eyed blood-stained Noldor had caught her and cut her down before she could so much as raise her sword. But she had lived long enough to hear her boys' screams.
Nimloth had lingered a long time in Mandos, waiting, but neither Eluréd nor Elurín had ever come.
Now in the light of day she saw them standing, bright as life, with the wizard Olórin, both of them taller than Dior had been, and nearly as tall as Elu Thingol. Their dark hair gleamed, salt-crusted, and their clothes were that of hunters, all brown and green, and well-worn.
Elwing ran ahead, still dripping water, and at her cry they turned. “Little Elwing!” they cried, and lifted her off her feet, all three of them laughing and weeping and speaking over each other. Behind them Olórin laughed, and a pair of halflings watched the reunion with very pleased expressions.
