An Unexpected Ally
Lothiriel cautiously looked around the ballroom. Her father was talking to the new King, Lady Éowyn was dancing with the former Steward's son, and King Éomer was surrounded by several ladies of the court. It was the perfect time to escape.
Pushing open the kitchen door, she strode through the room, the cooks muttering expletives behind her. She exited, taking a quick glance around the herb garden and continued to the postern gate. As she opened it, a hand of steel gripped her forearm.
“Where are you going, Lady,” a familiar voice whispered.
“Away. Anywhere but here.”
“I'll accompany you.”
