Behind Aragorn, a rumbling groan announced that Halbarad was waking at last. Silently, Aragorn filled a mug as his friend stumbled to his feet. When he reached out with one bear-like paw, though, Aragorn pulled the cup away and cleared his throat.
“What?” Halbarad slurred.
“Just making sure you remember your word. You were rather insensate when I dragged you to bed.”
“I will not drink to excess around the Breelanders,” Halbarad recited blearily.
“And?”
“I will not treat the Lay of Leithian as a drinking song.”
With a small smile, Aragorn passed him a steaming cup of ginger tea.
