Absolutely. I think it is more Gimli's own sense of modesty and 'correctness' that is the problem, rather than the innocence of hobbits.
Although I think you are quite right - the hobbits would probably not think of scantily clad elves as all that exciting, anyway.

Dwarven lads don't grow up with a passle of sisters and female cousins, the way hobbit boys do - what with the dwarven women being so rare, probably nobody ever sees them undressed but their mothers and their husbands.
"Diamond of Long Cleve, now there's a proper lass, sweet and juicy as a sun-ripe pear - none of your pale, cold sticks of marble."

I love that Legolas also reflects on his ancestral name - my favourite elf is too often overlooked!

I would never forget our favourite elf - and I think that there are similarities between Boromir and Legolas that so often go un-noticed - including that high ancestral name!
