LOTR Drabble: A Visit to the Northern Kingdom in the Autumn by the Prince and Princess of Ithilien

Nov 14, 2006 19:58

It's been long and long since I've written much of anything, even poetry. The idea for this drabble came to me whilst I was looking at this autumnal icon of Faramir and Eowyn with the falling leaves. I knew that I wanted to write something for a Middle-Earth fall.

Title: A Visit to the Northern Kingdom in the Autumn by the Prince and Princess of Ithilien
Author: Lanthirel, aka Deidre
Characters: Eowyn and Faramir
Rating: G
Book/Source: it's deliberately vague enough so that it could be either book or movie 'verse
Disclaimer: Tolkien implied in a letter that we could play in his sandbox.

A Visit to the Northern Kingdom in the Autumn by the Prince and Princess of Ithilien

Eowyn liked the fall, best of all the seasons, in the Northern Kingdom. It was so different from the southern kingdoms, on Rohan's vast plains, with golden wheat fields in harvest time, before the first frost, or the conifers in the Emyn Arnen that stayed green all the year round.

And she loved walking with Faramir through these woods, with all the different colours of leaves, red and yellow and orange.

They stood now amidst those falling leaves.

"How does my lady this day?"

"I am content, wherever my lord is."

Smiling, hand in hand, through the woods they passed.
