Characters: Beren, Luthien (reference to Huan)
Disclaimer: A little embroidery on a canonical scene (on the way from Tol-in-Gaurhoth to Angband), inspired by a song by Clannad.
‘Huan,…’ Beren begins reproachfully.
‘No, Beren’ Luthien interrupts him. ‘It doesn’t matter where you go, I will always find you, Huan or no Huan.’
Beren opens his mouth, but Luthien gives him such a look that he shuts it again.
‘No matter where, I say! Even if it takes a thousand years!’
‘Dearest,’ Beren says weakly, ‘I am no Elf, I haven’t got a thousand years.’
‘That,’ says Luthien, ‘doesn’t matter either. You don’t believe me? Wait and see!’
It is impossible. But Beren doesn’t doubt she means it. When Luthien decides, he is learning, there is no holding back.
A/N: The title is adapted from a canon quotation that was a SWG challenge prompt. The song by Clannad is, of course "I Will Find You". [Manually cross-posted from Dreamwidth]
