Title: An Accident of Wind
By: HF
Work: LotR
Rating: G
Characters: Aragorn, inanimate object
Disclaimers: The genius is Tolkien's.

Notes: I actually wrote this a couple weeks ago, and forgot to post it. The idea came off a series of Tree-related drabbles, and my enduring fascination with with subject.

AN ACCIDENT OF WIND

What wind cruelly carried you to this frozen place? A breath of spring? A storm fierce enough to shatter earth?

Did the sun nourish you? Or did you drink of the snow and the moonlight alone, that you are fairer than silver, than mithril?

These answers, no man may know.

Mordor’s black breath stole me from my lord, yet the Valar preserved me, for though I am of later days, still am I the son of Telperion.

The black claw loosed me, thinking I fell to my death. But I have slept in secret, drinking the richness of the moon.
