Terry Pratchett doesn’t understand the essential whatsit of ‘Doctor Who’

Good answer from FlickFilosopher to Pratchett's somewhat naive darts thrown at Doctor Who; a show that, he admits, "he wishes he could hate" for having a "pixel-thin science".

I guess I could also wish I could hate my radiator because I can't cook on it, but it happens to be made to provide heating to my living room, rather than to prepare dinner. And, as Matt Hills rightly points out, the one constant science fiction element in Doctor Who (time travel) has always been merely incidental to the real meat of the show, which is the travel among different genres. Sometimes the genre of choice may be science fiction, but not always.

Actually, I think we all agree in that Doctor Who owes much more to the English Romanticism rather than science fiction, don't we?
