Title: The Angel and The Devil, Heavy on Your Shoulders (Part VII.) Word Count: 505 [35000 total] MASTER POST for warnings, author's notes, and link to art
Oh. Well. ...This was good. Heartbreaking, but good. (and somehow more satisfaying that S4 of SPN actually was.) I could really feel both their pains, instead of having one be more important than the other, hence going "Oh, it doesn't matter how Sam/Dean feels, just look how the other is so miserable!" I mean, Dean was a dick to Sam, and Sam was dangerously skitting the line to the darkside, but they were both understandablem it was easy to feel for them, and i just wishes they had a happy ending. But I always want that for them. The way this is- God, it is griitng, and with no light even when it could- except maybe the night they spent drinking and laughing, but even then, between what is really going on and the fact that we know it's just temporary... Yeah, this was dark.
Thanks...yeah, I did go a little overboard on the angst, maybe. I have something of a reputation for unhappy endings...next time will be sunshine and rainbows...promise! Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you enjoyed!
That was brutal, but it was absolutely compelling. I was especially fascinated by your Sam: constantly swinging back and forth between callous and vulnerable. Wandering between extremes, indeed. And then the end. I kept waiting for the happy ending, but I'm kind of glad that you didn't take the easy way out.
I'm glad you liked--the ending was the HARDEST thing to figure out, more so than in anything else I'd written. I had a version where Sam kills Dean, where Dean kills Sam, where they go out Romeo and Juliet style, where the world blows up, where they all go down to the sea shore...
So I'm glad the ending finally worked. :) Thanks for reading!

So you're seeing how you made me cry, right? It was angsty and sad and beautiful.
But I'm fucking crying right now. OH, these boys.
Awesome story.
