Hello there.
Recently, upon request of a friend, I've wasted away some of those bleak Summer hours by translating some folktales from my native country, Sweden. I will definitely do more, but at this point I have managed but two. They are both of a humourous and moralistic nature, courtesy of most folktales.
The first one can be found
here, and the second one
here. Both are accompanied by an illustration that I've scanned (rather poorly, but they're still of pretty okay quality).
Around the same time I started working on these, I raided the library a bit on books on ghosts and other death-related creatures in Scandinavian folklore. I was struck by how bizarrely many names, dialectal and not, for different ghosts that exist in Swedish, (with many counterparts in the other Scandinavian languages) and decided to try and write them all down. In the end, I got 46 (48 if you count the bonuses). I'm still convinced there are more.
So in case you're interested in ghosts,
feel free to check it out. It was a personal project, so I apologize if it's not written too formally. 8P
(I didn't include any actual stories involving these creatures, but in case anyone would be interested, I'd be willing to translate some.)
... And that was all from me, this time. I hope it's appreciated. :D
