"It's amazing how you understand me, Satoshi," Nana sighed and offered him a small sad smile. "I guess I've never even thanked you properly but it really means a lot to me."
"No problem," Satoshi said with a grin and nodded towards the next vending machine, "want a coffee?"
"No, let me-" Nana started but Satoshi was already by the machine and soon he handed her a cold can of her favorite coffee.
"You should have let me buy them this time. What kind of a friend am I if I always make you buy them?" she asked and pursed her lips in the way she always did when she wasn't pleased with something; in the way that always made Satoshi want to kiss her. He looked at the girl and felt a small pinch of dull pain in his chest.
She always said things like that.
Usually it didn't matter, at daytime he could easily take it, but for some reason it always hurt when she talked about their friendship in the evening, when there was just the two of then walking home.
Friends. Nana was happy they were friends, and Satoshi feared they would always be like that - just friends.
"You're a friend and I'm a man who won't make girls buy the drinks," he simply said.
Nana rolled her eyes but her smile was bright and beautiful.
