The men tensed, and one said, "Is that okay? We're already down fifteen men after last month's mission, sir." The silence crumbled, and they found themselves standing ankle-deep in bits of it, holding their breath. Gun-shy they were not, but every one of them jumped when the speaker was shot -- once, between the eyes, and no one had even seen the gun drawn.
"And rapidly losing more," the boss added concisely, tucking the gun away again just as the body hit the ground, spreading blood like fire over an oil spill. No one dared back away, watching as the creeping liquid overtook their shoes. "One less man means you're each that much more likely to be the last out of the compound. Does anyone else have any concerns?"
Not a soul moved until he narrowed his eyes, pleased, and bid them to leave. They filed out, quietly jostling, because the last one out of this room might just die, too. Kite Eishirou's men knew that he wasn't called 'The Hitman' because of how many of his enemies he'd killed.
