Today's entreé entry: equal parts life and RP, topped with determination and optimism; serve warm.
The Life Portion:
I really do think I might wind up going to college, after all. But if I do this, I'm going to do it my way. No way in hell was I going to register for the spring semester, which starts in something like four days. I may, in fact, sign up for the fall semester, which should start in August sometime.
I can land a GED scholarship with both hands tied behind my back - er, if I learn to type with my tongue. One of the requirements is a five hundred word essay on how attending this college will benefit me, which I can write in a few hours, if I want. Hell, I could write it in my sleep and it'd meet their standards, I'm sure.
The other requirements are at least six credit hours (full-time means twelve, so no problem), passing scores on your ASSET and COMPASS tests (I have yet to take them, but hey, I'm not worried), 3.0 GPA maintained (which might be the hardest part), and a 580 minimum score on your GED exam.
My score was 3310. I'm going to bold that now, because I'm arrogant and vain. My GED score was 3310. The average is roughly 660. I could score 580 fucking drunk.
If I get the application turned in before July 15th, I can get $700 per semester for four semesters. In-district tuition is $50 per credit hour, which only comes out to $600, and required fees add up to at least $216 per semester. That means only $116 per semester, maybe a bit more, would be uncovered by the scholarship. Not bad, Cassie, not bad.
Of course, that means I'd have to hold a 3.0, but I know I can. I'd just have to fucking do it. One thing I might decide to do is to stay at the college to finish any extra work or studying, because I know I won't get it done at home - there's too much going on here all the time, and I'd distract myself too easily. By the time the fall semester comes around, I'll probably be driving, so I'll be able to make that call, I hope.
When it comes to actual courses, I may be looking at just four classes, three hours a week each for the semester. Three of them are prereqs to courses I'd like to take, and the other is just for fun, really.
★ CIS 1033 PC HARDWARE REPAIR I [ 3-0-3 ]
Provides instruction on PC hardware components including the system board, hard drives, floppy drives and memory chips. How software and hardware work together is discussed. A brief introduction to basic electricity and power supplies is provided. Students receive some hands-on experience in lab. Fall only.
I could probably pass this course in my sleep, too, but it's a prereq to PC Hardware Repair II and PC Troubleshooting - both of which I'm sure I'll pass easily, but it won't hurt, either.
★ CIS 2253 INTERNET/WEBPAGES/SOFTWARE PLATFORM [ 3-0-3 ]
Explores communications and networking terminology via the Internet. Students will learn communications and networking principles and applications along with skills necessary for designing Web Pages. Utilizes Microsoft FrontPage and HTML.
Currently, my knowledge of web design is... okay. I'd like to know more, though, and CIS 2253 (along with Computer Graphics) is a prereq to Web Design I and II. Computer Graphics is a spring-only course, though, so I'd have to take it next semester.
★ ENG 1103 ENGLISH COMPOSITION I [ 3-0-3 ]
Students improve their writing skills through study and practice of fundamentals of written communication, including principles of grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, and careful analytical reading.
Again, could probably pass it, no sweat. The prereq for this course is Basic Writing or college-level English placement scores, which I've had since middle school. This course itself is a prereq for English Comp II and Creative Writing, which is where I really wanna be.
★ FAT 2033 ACTING I [ 3-0-3 ]
Explores the craft of acting through script analysis and techniques of characterization.
Just for fun. I always wanted to get into theatre, but I was too stageshy in elementary and middle school, and too fucked up in high school. Now might be a nice time. This is the only theatre course offered besides 'Theater,' which... isn't what I want.
With all of these ideas, I wanted to share them with my parents, because I thought they'd be proud. They were, yes, but they also made me feel like it wasn't good enough. I showed them these plans, told them what I wanted to do, and got 'you can get better / more scholarships and grants' and 'you should have done this sooner' in return.
Whatever. I'm doing this my way, and I'm doing it for me, regardless of what anyone else says.
I think my theme for this year is NewS' 'Hoshi wo Mezashite.'
The lyrics are quite fitting. Looking back, last year's was probably Shishido's '
Hang in There.' I'm not sure about 2006, but 2005's was '
L.G. Fuad' by Motion City Soundtrack. I've come pretty far, from 'let's get fucked up and die' to 'hang in there' to 'aim for the stars.'
Hell, I'm proud of myself. Fuck anyone else.
The RP Portion:
There's been this kind of slump. Most all the kids are awake, but so few of them want to really do anything. Yukimura and Eiji and Kamio are all barely there, the Tachibana and Tezuka muselets have sort of faded again, but Hiyolet and Takilet and Renjilet all exist. Shiralet's a little less intense; Zaizen's moved in full-time along with Inui and Koharu. Keigo and Syuusuke are asleep, and Echizen's awake, but horribly uncanon and pseudocelebrity.
Then there are the Sanadas and the Miyukis.
Sanada!Sanada, my first Sanada muse, has been a lot more reticent in terms of activity lately. He's just as awake as ever, but mostly exists only in my head. He's in highschool by default, but is very flexible for AUs, and doesn't really have a set storyline. The others call him 'Gen'ichirou-san.'
In the meantime, tango!Sanada has taken the stage, and developed a remarkable fondness for Seiichi, considering what we call him. He will never be able to escape loving Keigo, though. Even in his current SL, he and Keigo are stepbrothers, and he loves him to death (platonically speaking). He's also in highschool by default, but pretty flexible, and tends to come forward to play when there's a Keigo around. He's usually just called 'Gen'ichirou.'
Gen'ichirou is, alarmingly, still there. He's the muse who spawned for SQ, and I don't know why he's still there. He's a lot quieter than the others, almost kind of shy, but in the awkward way. Also highschool, less flexible, futurecanon storyline. The others seem to think he acts younger, so he's become 'Gen'ichirou-kun.'
Tsuruko - 'Tsuruko-san' - also surprises me by being there. She's girl!Sanada, from a mutant genderswitch AU (yeah, you heard me). I think she still represents something to the boys: she was raised in the same environment they were, but treated like a girl, because she was one. That meant she cooked and cleaned and was expected to marry. The boys are discomforted by this.
Gen-chan, who is called just that, is still six, and mostly just confused these days, due to the addition of a little!Miyuki. He likes samurai and tokusatsu, and doesn't like girls. ♥
Slayer!Miyuki was the original Miyuki; she manifested first, but she did it from an AU, obviously. She's twenty years old, a little world-weary, but pretty alright for having helped stop an apocalypse. She's also hooked up with Yuuta, and is currently helping Tezuka, her former Watcher, train a new Slayer. The girls call her 'Aneki.'
XP!Miyuki split from Slayer!Miyuki (or vice-versa, I think, because Slayer!Miyu disappeared for a while). She's at XP, obv., sixteen years old and a runaway mutant, working for the 'Hood and attending 'Hana with her boyfriend, Shiraishi. She's 'Neehan,' except to Slayer!Miyu, who calls her 'Itohan.'
AU!Miyuki is fourteen, and sort of... pseudocanon, but flexible. She likes Kevin and Kintarou, mostly, and idk where that came from. She's also a Bleach fanatic (no, idk, don't ask), and keeps in touch with Tezuka online on fandom forums. ♥ Miyu-chan calls her 'Neechan,' and the other two call her 'Miyu.'
Miyu-chan is five years old. ♥ She likes pirates and playing dress-up, and wants to be a princess. She's always 'Miyu-chan.'
Clearly, they need to stop spawning.
On top of that lot, there's also Niou, who is Niou, and Keiko, Keigo's mother, who is louder than she has any right to be. Other muses who are generally not disruptive include Jirou, his sister (Megumi), Yukimura's sister (Saki), Yuushi, Yuushi's father (Kazuki), Eishirou, two Kajimotos (Kajimoto and Takahisa, I think), three Shishidos (Shishidiva, Ryou and Makoto), Bunta, two Akayas (Akaya and nazi!Akaya, who is thankfully quiet), Sanada's cousin and brother (Kitsuzaemon and Mamoru), and any number of others who are quiet enough that I can forget them temporarily.
That's not including the Turks, or Tamaki and Ayame. Oh, muses. ♥
XP!Miyuki and Kajimoto are settled and getting settled, respectively, at XP. Eishirou belongs at CD, and hopefully, Zaizen will, too. I'm also considering trying to settle Jirou (or a Jirou) there. I want a Hyoutei kid.
In the meantime, I need to get the hell off of Gaia and COLOURlovers. >>;
