Berubara 1990 Not!Review

Mar 08, 2011 22:00

This is not a review. This is just thoughts of the show filled with screencaps XD! I was watching both the official VHS and my 2 DVD Sky Stage copy of this side by side to see if anything's changed. For the most part, most of everything is there, only half the beginning is missing (the whole "Mina-sama" introduction is clipped off) because we have a wonderful introduction by none other than the great Ooura Mizuki.

We begin our show with a very wonderful introduction by Natsume.

Then we begin our usual Berubara with "Goran Nasai". Here we have Shiraki Ayaka who will be a future Top Star of Hoshigumi from 1992-1997 (her last show in Takarazuka? "Elisabeth :D)

Then we have the wonderful Natsume singing the song that will be associated with every "Fersen/Antoinette" story starting with this version ("Ai no Omokage"):

We enter the palace ball in Versailles in which Fersen is smitten with the lovely Marie Antoinette played by the former Hanagumi Top Musumeyaku Hibiki Mito. Sadly, Fersen was slapped by Oscar played by Maya Miki:

Yan (Anju Mira) in drag

Yan not in drag (as Joseph II)

True love

This show was my first introduction to Asaka Jun. In here, she played Andre in which is not the biggest part here in this Berubara. At least there's no poison scene XD!

I had to include the salute. It's too adorably awesome to miss ;)

We have the gorgeous and awesome Maya Miki as Oscar here in this show. The role was played at different dates with Suzukaze Mayo of Tsukigumi (who will later play Oscar in her own gumi's version in 1991), Shion Yuu of Hoshigumi and Anju Mira.

More true love (you can not have Berubara without "Ai Areba Koso" you know ;)

Fersen arrives at the court of Gustav III. Sadly, this is the part where my DVD copy cuts out so you don't get the awesome Natsume/Soldiers dance in which I saw via my VHS heehee ^^

My VHS also contains a long intermission time in which has Yan, Miki, Natsume and Kaoru via blue screen effects telling us about France. It's not on the Sky Stage copy (or is it? I'm not sure due to the cut off from Disc 1/Act 1 XD).

We have Jeanne here showing off her branded "V" scar. She is played by Kozue Manami:

Fersen knows that Marie is in danger so he goes off to rescue her

A very sad end (at least there's no pegasus! XD)

Revue Time!

Nice tuxedo dancing on the staircase. I am not sure if this was choreographed by Hayama Kiyomi. It sure looks like her Choreography though (I'm only saying this because she did this exact Tuxedo staircase in 2001 with Soragumi's "Fersen/Marie")

Kaoru and Natsume :D!

More Kaoru :D!

The good part about this Berubara is the camera angles so you can see the choreography a bit from the whole stage which means you get more Musumeyaku :D!

And yet, more Musumeyaku :D!

Now we enter the now famous Kosame dance in which had its roots via this "Berubara". Natsume and Miki are wonderful dancing together ♥

RUKO :D! That's Asaka Jun's nickname in case one is curious ;)

Then we have a wonderful Natsume dance with Hibiki Mito being the background singer to the song "Ai no Omokage"

Now it's Parade time with the lovely Musumeyaku Junna Risa who will be a future Top Musumeyaku from 1995-1996 in Hanagumi. She is our Etoile in the staircase Parade

Natsume ♥!

Personally, I thought it was very good. Natsume gives an excellent performance as Fersen as does Kaoru as Marie Antoinette. Ruko as Andre is my favorite and this was my first introduction to her. Maya Miki gives a solid performance as Oscar as well. The dancing was good with Natsume and Kaoru (it's a romantic dance that took place of the Boat Scene in this version), as well as the mentioned Natsume/Soldiers dance. I would say that this revue was pretty interesting in a sense that there is no "Bolero" which is in every Fersen/Antoinette version (and one time during the "Andre & Oscar" version from 1989).
